Belangie Perez-Torres, RDH, director of hygiene strategy and operations at Aspen Dental, was recently awarded the Brilliance in Healthcare Award at the HEaL Conferences: Healthcare and Education in Tampa, Florida.

The Brilliance in Healthcare Award recognizes exemplary leaders for their outstanding contributions to advancing healthcare and education. Their efforts are evaluated across four areas: leadership, innovation, impact, and scalability. Among her other accomplishments at Aspen Dental, Perez-Torres successfully transformed an in-person orientation program into a scalable onboarding program for dental hygienists joining Aspen Dental from 44 states. The robust onboarding program includes shoulder-to-shoulder training, interactive virtual classrooms, and continuing dental education credits.

“I’m really honored and humbled to be recognized by my peers, and within a global setting and by industry leaders who share my passion for improving the health and education space,” said Perez-Torres.

Perez-Torres attributes her success to her unwavering dedication to supporting healthcare professionals and her continuous pursuit of lifelong learning. She encourages individuals who are early in their careers to be open to change, invest in their personal development, and seek out mentors they can learn from.

“Take ownership of your development because everything you learn will serve you in the future,” she said.
