Press Releases
The Pennsylvania American Water project begins on April 6 to improve infrastructure and service.
CLARION, Pa. (March 31, 2026) Pennsylvania American Water announced today that it is investing approximately $4.5 million to upgrade aging water and wastewater mains along Main Street in Clarion Borough, a project designed to improve service reliability for residents and businesses.
Many of the water and sewer mains in this project were installed in the 1940s and have reached the end of their useful life. Construction is scheduled to start April 6, weather permitting, mainly along Main Street between North 1st Avenue and North 9th Avenue. The work involves replacing nearly a mile of water main and about 4,250 feet of wastewater pipe with modern, durable materials.
In addition to the Main Street upgrades, Pennsylvania American Water will upgrade a 300-foot section of wastewater pipe near North Sheridan Road. The project also includes replacing 88 water service lines and five fire hydrants, as well as upgrading 27 sewer manholes and 55 laterals, most with new cleanouts for easier future access.
Lead service line work
During construction, crews will also identify the material of the customer-side service lines. If lead or galvanized steel lines are found, they will be replaced at no direct cost to the customer through Pennsylvania American Water’s Lead Service Line Replacement Program, reinforcing the company’s commitment to providing safe, reliable drinking water.
Crews will work on weeknights between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction. Final street restoration is expected to be completed in early Fall 2026.
