Virginia American Water Invests $500,000 in Dale City Infrastructure

Alexandria, VA, (March 20, 2026) – Beginning the week of March 23, Virginia American Water will begin a $500,000 infrastructure upgrade project in Dale City, replacing 620 feet of aging main with 8” ductile iron pipe. The project, which will take place on Adams Street (from Anderson Street to the end of the cul-de-sac), will help improve water service reliability and increase water flows for household use and firefighting.

“Upgrading aging infrastructure is essential to ensuring consistent, dependable service for our customers as well as improving operational efficiency”, said Charlie Piekanski, Vice President of Operations at Virginia American Water. “We pride ourselves in our long-term investments throughout the Commonwealth.”

Weather permitting, our contractor, Prince William Pipeline Corporation, will begin work on or about the week of March 23 and be completed by the end of July 2026, including street restoration. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, during varying times between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. depending on weather conditions. Work on weekends and evenings is not expected unless required to maintain the project schedule.

It is important to note that our contractor will try to keep one traffic lane open at all times for local traffic as long as it can be done safely. The construction will not impede residents’ access to their homes and driveways. During construction, noise is unavoidable; however crews will do their best to minimize disturbances. Customers may experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, and/or lower than normal water pressure. Crews will work as quickly as possible to shorten the duration of these temporary inconveniences. To report water-related emergencies such as leaks, main breaks or other service disruptions, customers can submit a service request on the company’s website: www.virginiaamwater.com
