Air Canada reports October traffic
MONTREAL, Nov. 6 /CNW Telbec/ - Air Canada reported a consolidated load
factor of 78.6 per cent in October 2007, the highest ever for the month.
The mainline carrier flew 2.8 per cent more revenue passenger miles
(RPMs) in October 2007 than in October 2006, according to preliminary traffic
figures. Capacity increased by 2.7 per cent, resulting in a load factor of
79.1 per cent, compared to 79.0 per cent in October 2006; an increase of
0.1 percentage points.
Jazz, from which Air Canada purchases regional capacity, flew
2.0 per cent more RPMs in October 2007 than in October 2006, according to
preliminary traffic figures. Capacity decreased by 0.4 per cent, resulting in
a load factor of 74.2 per cent, compared to 72.5 per cent in October 2006; an
increase of 1.7 percentage points. Year over year, system traffic on a
consolidated basis for Air Canada and Jazz rose 2.7 per cent on a capacity
increase of 2.4 per cent. This resulted in a load factor of 78.6 per cent
versus 78.4 per cent in October 2006.
"For Air Canada and Jazz, combined passenger load factor in October, at
78.6 per cent, was the highest ever recorded. System wide traffic, on a
combined basis with Jazz, increased 2.7 per cent from the previous year,
outpacing capacity growth," said Montie Brewer, President and Chief Executive
Officer. "Air Canada's innovative fare products and subscription passes
continue to attract growing numbers of customers as we renew the fleet with an
industry leading in-flight product. I am particularly proud of our employees
who met both On-Time Performance and Customer Satisfaction objectives for the
fourth and sixth consecutive months, respectively, as they continue to work
hard to earn the loyalty of our customers with the quality of their service."
NOTE: Beginning in May 2007, Air Canada has adjusted the way it reports
its monthly traffic results. Tier 3 flying is now included in mainline results
along with Jetz. Charter flying is apportioned among the respective market
segments. The October 2006 and year-to-date traffic numbers have been adjusted
to reflect these changes for year-over-year comparisons.
