AARP Innovation Labs announced Kinoo as the winner of its annual 2021 Grand Pitch Finale, held virtually on September 30th. Kinoo, the $10,000 grand-prize winner, beat out four other startups for this competition.

Today, AARP announced its 2022 AARP Purpose Prize award recipients and fellows, the only national award that celebrates people 50-plus who use their knowledge and life experience to solve challenging social problems. These extraordinary Americans use their experiences and selflessly dedicate their lives to build a better future for the world around them.

To mark Hispanic Heritage Month, the October/November issue of AARP The Magazine (ATM) highlights numerous influential Latin-American icons, including cover star Salma Hayek who shares a rare look into her life as a professional Latin-American woman in Hollywood. Today AARP launched the AARP Skills Builder for WorkSM, a new platform to help older workers gain in-demand skills to give them an edge in today’s competitive job market. According to AARP research, two-thirds of older workers are interested in additional job/skills training and the same amount have taken some type of training in the past two years.

Retail prices for 180 widely used specialty prescription drugs increased by an average of 4.8% in 2020, more than three times the rate of general inflation for that same period (1.3%), according to AARP’s latest Rx Price Watch Report.

WASHINGTON—The RAISE (Recognize, Assist, Include, Support, and Engage) Family Caregiving Advisory Council—comprised of family caregivers, health care experts and others—yesterday delivered recommendations to policymakers on how to better support family caregivers, including a call for financial and workplace security and expanding home and community-based services.

AARP has launched a full-scale campaign, including a $4 million ad buy, pushing back on false claims from the pharmaceutical industry that reforms would limit Americans’ access to medicines. AARP has called for fair drug prices for years and is urging Congress to pass legislation that would allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices, put a cap on out-of-pocket costs that older adults pay for their prescription drugs and impose penalties on drug companies that raise prices faster than the rate of inflation.
