WASHINGTON—A major government contractor has intentionally discriminated against older jobseekers and harmed their employment prospects for years, according to a new class action lawsuit filed in a federal court in Boston by AARP Foundation, Peter Romer-Friedman Law PLLC, and Outten & Golden LLP.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is providing free in-person and virtual tax assistance and preparation now through April 15.
AARP Foundation attorneys have joined a class action charge that is pending before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) against Meta Platforms, Inc. (the owner of Facebook). The class action charge was filed in December 2022 by REAL Women in Trucking (RWIT), a nonprofit that advocates for women truck drivers.
AARP Foundation and the Public Justice Center filed a class action lawsuit today on behalf of home care aides who are current and former employees of FinePoints Private Duty Healthcare, LLC (FinePoints). The suit alleges that FinePoints, a private agency in Maryland that provides in-home assistance to individuals with special needs, committed wage theft by grossly underpaying its employees in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”) and Maryland wage laws.
