The brief explains many ways in which the ACA has greatly benefited older adults and emphasizes the importance of protections for people with preexisting conditions and the limits on charging higher rates based on age (age tax). AARP and AARP Foundation have requested that the court accept the brief in response to the state of Texas’ request for a preliminary injunction to stop implementation of the ACA.

WASHINGTON, DC—AARP Foundation President Lisa Marsh Ryerson today announced that AARP Foundation has created a relief fund to help the victims – especially those age 50 and older –as relentless rains and unprecedented flooding devastate Houston and the southeastern Texas region. AARP Foundation and AARP will match contributions, dollar for dollar, up to $1 million for the fund, which will provide relief and recovery support to victims of Hurricane Harvey.
