Wish of a Lifetime from AARP in its 11th Annual Cupid Crew To Combat Social Isolation With Cards and Roses

WASHINGTON — This Valentine's Day, join Wish of a Lifetime from AARP for its 11th annual Cupid Crew effort to send love and deliver cards and roses to older adults, fostering intergenerational connections with those who may be at risk for social isolation.

No matter the age, we all need connection to thrive physically and emotionally. The continuing problem of social isolation threatens the health and mental well-being of millions of people in the U.S. Through Cupid Crew, Wish of a Lifetime encourages people of all ages, in communities both big and small, to help isolated older adults feel more connected and loved.

"Now in its 11th year, Cupid Crew has impacted over 750,000 older adults throughout the country, something that is especially important during a holiday that is all about love and connection," said Tom Wagenlander, vice president and executive director, Wish of a Lifetime from AARP. "I encourage everyone to say hello, send a card, deliver a rose, or call someone in their neighborhood experiencing isolation. Your small gesture can greatly impact how much love and community they feel."

Cupid Crew has enlisted volunteers nationwide to help deliver roses and cards to older adults – with more than 170,000 roses committed for delivery this year. Additionally, there will be an official pop-up Cupid Crew location at Washington D.C.'s Union Station, 50 Massachusetts Ave, NE, on Wednesday, February 14, 10 AM – 12 PM ET. At Union Station, Wish of a Lifetime will be joined by local police officers, volunteers, violinist Alexander Strachan, and others, to deliver 2,500 roses to unsuspecting passersby.

To participate, learn more, and send love, go to wishofalifetime.org/cupid. From there, you can download and create a card, then send it to an older adult this Valentine's Day. There is also more information on volunteering to deliver roses and/or donate to Wish of a Lifetime.
