AARP The Magazine Celebrates the Annual Movies for Grownups® Awards with Great Performances on PBS
Appearances by George Clooney, Sophia Loren, Anthony Hopkins, Andra Day, Catherine O’Hara, Mark Ruffalo, Jodie Foster, Demián Bichir, Aaron Sorkin, Hoda Kotb, Milo Ventimiglia, Lee Daniels and more

LOS ANGELES—On Sunday, March 28, AARP The Magazine’s Movies for Grownups Awards® premiered on Great Performances on PBS, pbs.org/moviesforgrownups and the PBS Video app where it now streams. This is the fourth consecutive year the awards have been broadcast on PBS in a co-production with Great Performances and AARP Studios.

Iconic actor, director, producer and writer George Clooney headlined this year’s Movies for Grownups® Awards, as the Career Achievement Award honoree. He has joined a prestigious list of previous AARP Movies for Grownups Career Achievement honorees, including Annette Bening, Kevin Costner, Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas, Morgan Freeman, Shirley MacLaine, Helen Mirren, Robert Redford, Susan Sarandon, and Sharon Stone.

In a year of convergence in how audiences watch movies and TV productions, AARP’s Movies for Grownups® Awards continued its tradition of awarding high quality performances and expanded its categories to include Television/Streaming. For the inaugural year of the TV categories, winners included This Is Us and The Queen’s Gambit.

The Movies for Grownups® Awards included appearances by honorees from The United States vs. Billie Holiday, The Life Ahead, The Father, The Trial of the Chicago 7 and more.

Beloved television anchor Hoda Kotb of NBC News’ “TODAY” and “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” hosted the awards ceremony, bringing her signature charm and charisma to the exciting event.

AARP’s Movies for Grownups® Awards champion movies for grownups, by grownups, by advocating for the 50+ audience, fighting industry ageism and highlighting films that resonate with older viewers.
