Blackburn Ranger Program Set to Explore Europe in 2017
The California design house broadens its founding principles of exploration by opening its Ranger program to European cyclists

Scotts Valley, California — Now in its fifth year, the Blackburn Ranger program has become a hotly anticipated tradition for the California-based gear designer. For 2017, Blackburn has set its sights overseas, and is opening its application process to European Rangers who’ll continue the series of inspiring rides along cycling’s greatest routes.

Blackburn will be looking to recruit four new Rangers for the European campaign. Each of these individuals will continue to be the ultimate testers of Blackburn products, while supporting and promoting the core culture of outdoor discovery that Blackburn already embodies.

Supported by partners like SRAM, Niner, Giro shoes, Bell helmets, WTB, Big Agnes and Kitsbow apparel, the Ranger program honors Blackburn's founding principle—the spirit of adventure, by telling the story of iconic cycling routes, the people who ride them, and the unique adventures they have along the way. Once chosen, each recruit will tackle a special route specifically outlined for 2017: Highland 550 in the United Kingdom, the Alpine Bike Trail 1 in Switzerland, the famed El Camino de Santiago in Spain, and a route dubbed “the Adventure Trans Germany.” These challenging passages will serve as the blank pages upon which the Rangers will create new adventure journals, joining the stories already told on iconic North American routes like the Pacific Coast Highway, the Great Divide, and the Transamerica Trail.

“We’re proud of how the Ranger program has come to not only represent Blackburn culture, but inspire incredible rides from every corner of the globe,” said Blackburn’s Robin Sansom. “And it’s high time we bring an entirely new continent of exploration to the pages of the Ranger journals, with four incredible rides across some of the very best roads and trails on the globe.”

The application period for the 2017 Blackburn Ranger Program will run from January 3rd to February 28th and is open to applicants worldwide. Final selections will be made by April 15th, those interested can head over to Blackburn’s How to Be a Ranger page to apply.
