Serengeti Re-Launches Pilot Collection
Expands Number of Styles with Lenses "Approved For Digital Aviation Displays"

Overland Park, Kansas & Paris, France – Shortly after the brand's products first hit the market nearly 35 years ago, Serengeti sunglasses became popular with pilots, due to the superior optical clarity of their mineral glass lenses. While the Serengeti line always included several styles for suitable for aviation, the brand's selection of styles that meet the criteria to be considered appropriate for pilots has never been greater.

Nine of the ten models in the Pilot Collection are fitted with Drivers Gradient lenses, which have a unique shade of amber-brown engineered to naturally amplify contrast and definition in multiple light conditions.

Darker at the top, lighter at the bottom, Drivers Gradient lenses shade more light from above while providing a clearer view of the instrument panel or dashboard below. Like all Serengeti sunglasses, these lenses have two leading-edge technologies designed to eliminate eyestrain and fatigue - on the road or in the air - including:

Photochromic technology - Automatically and continuously adjusts to changing light conditions. Engineered into the glass, photochromic properties will never wear off or wear out.

Spectral Control® - Provides unparalleled natural high definition contrast and color enhancement by managing specific colors within the visible light spectrum, particularly the shorter blue light waves that cause atmospheric haze and glare resulting in noticeably sharper focus and a clearer, crisp view.

"We’re particularly proud of our brand’s popularity with pilots. In one of the most demanding environments imaginable, the comprehensive lens technologies in our sunglasses deliver unsurpassed optical superiority,” said Dani LaGace, Director of Eyewear. “The unique combination of relief from harsh light and naturally enhanced view of reds, yellow and greens of the cockpit instrument panel makes the Drivers gradient lens perfect for pilots and drivers alike.”

Because Serengeti understands that many people – particularly pilots – wear their sunglasses for hours at a time, the attention devoted to creating the best possible lenses is matched by an equally meticulous commitment to a comfortable fit. Crafted from metal, each frame is shaped to rest lightly yet securely on the wearer’s head. And to ensure that great fit doesn’t diminish over time, Serengeti uses the finest available materials and manufacturing techniques.
