New Orleans' French Quarter tops the list of most searched U.S. attractions according to TripAdvisor

February 6, 2001-- TripAdvisor, Inc. (www.TripAdvisor.com), the search engine that delivers the world's opinion on travel, today announced the top five U.S. attractions which received the most search traffic in the month of January. Leading the list is the French Quarter in New Orleans.

"Considered to be the crown jewel of New Orleans, the French Quarter cannot be duplicated-from its architecture, street names, and restaurants. To experience the charm and 'laissez les bon temps rouler!' or 'let the good times roll!' attitude of the Quarter, you must come to New Orleans," said Beverly Gianna, Vice President of Public Affairs for the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The top five U.S. attractions most searched in the month of January on TripAdvisor.com are as follows:

  1. French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana

  2. Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida

  3. Alcatraz in San Francisco, California

  4. Golden Gate National Recreation Area in San Francisco, California

  5. River Walk in San Antonio, Texas
