Life Time Athletic Events Prepares For Jam Packed July Minneapolis Event Schedule
July events include Life Time Tri Minneapolis, Torchlight 5K and Athleta Esprit de She

CHANHASSEN, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Whether you are a seasoned triathlete, preparing to participate in your first 5K, or new to athletic events overall, Life Time Athletic Events, the premier endurance event division of Life Time – The Healthy Way of Life CompanySM (NYSE:LTM), has an event for every fitness ability (or level) this July.

July 13: Life Time Tri Minneapolis
Thousands of professional and amateur triathletes will descend upon Minneapolis on Saturday, July 13 to compete in the 2013 Life Time Tri Minneapolis at beautiful Lake Nokomis. The event, presented by Toyota, is also the first event in the Toyota Triple Crown Series that will award $50,000 and the coveted Toyota Cup to the top professional female or male triathlete competing in all three Toyota Triple Crown events. Life Time Tri Minneapolis isn’t just for the pros though. The event includes a Sprint and International distance as well as a relay component for those who would rather showcase their swim, bike or run skills alongside a team. In addition, the North American Junior Triathlon Invitational will take place where children ages 12-17 will compete with teams from Canada and the United States for individual and group awards. Junior participants will swim 0.25 miles, bike 15.0 miles and run 3.1 miles.

  • Swim start—Minneapolis’ Lake Nokomis starting and beginning on the northwest side of the lake.
  • Bike—Navigates along the iconic Mississippi River and “City of Lakes” before returning to the Lake Nokomis transition area.
  • Run—Around Minneapolis’ Lake Nokomis to the cheers of thousands of spectators.

July 14: Kids Tri Plymouth
Hot off the heels of Life Time Tri Minneapolis, the Kids Tri Plymouth promotes fitness and improves children's self confidence as they cross the finish line on their own. Young athletes will swim, bike and run in this 3-event race and each young triathlete will receive his/her own race T-shirt, swim cap, race number and finisher medal. Registration for Kids Tri Plymouth is sold out but spectators are encouraged to cheer on participating kids.

July 17: Torchlight 5K
Whether you are a dedicated runner or just someone who jogs from the couch to the fridge, the Torchlight 5K is a fun run for everyone. On July 17, this evening event features a lively post-work atmosphere and a legendary post-race party on the Minneapolis Riverfront, near St. Anthony Main including musical entertainment and complimentary refreshments. The Minneapolis Torchlight 5K fun run will provide participants with a first-hand tour of Aquatennial's CenterPoint Energy Torchlight Parade route in front of thousands of spectators and takes runners down Hennepin Avenue, along the Mississippi River and across the Stone Arch Bridge.

July 25: Life Time Athleta Esprit de She at 50th & France Ladies Night Out
The Life Time Athleta Esprit de She – The Spirit of Her Race Series will make its Minnesota debut as the featured kick off to the annual Ladies Night Out, hosted by the 50th & France Business Association. Happy hour begins with a timed 5K run and ends with a post-race night market of festive proportions. Salute your success with a drink at the champagne bubbly bar and enjoy tasty tapas and tunes while enjoying the shopping discounts from participating Edina businesses. Participating ladies will receive “fashionable freebies” including a custom designed lifestyle tank along with a stylishly functional race bag to use while shopping the deals at Ladies Night Out.
