CHICAGO, Jan. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Heidrick & Struggles (Nasdaq: HSII), a premier provider of executive search, leadership assessment and development, organization and team effectiveness, and culture shaping services, today announced a transition within the role of General Counsel, effective January 31.

Stephen Beard, Executive Vice President – General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer, has chosen to leave the firm to pursue other opportunities. The Chief Administrative Officer role will be eliminated. Kamau A. Coar, Vice President – Associate General Counsel, has been promoted to General Counsel. In this role, Coar will be responsible for the firm's legal and regulatory matters globally.

Beard joined Heidrick & Struggles in 2003 as Assistant General Counsel. He was named Executive Vice President and General Counsel in 2011, and Chief Administrative Officer in 2013.

Coar joined Heidrick & Struggles in 2012 as Associate General Counsel. Most recently, he has served on the leadership team for the firm's Asia Pacific region, based in Singapore. Before he joined Heidrick & Struggles, Coar was a partner at Ungaretti & Harris LLP. Coar began his career at Proskauer Rose LLP. He has a BA from Johns Hopkins University and a JD from Duke University School of Law.
