And it gave them a good incentive.
DISH Network's (NASDAQ: DISH) Harlingen customer service center employees raised more than $6,500 for the city's annual toy drive sponsored by the Harlingen Police Departmetn and the Harlingen Police Officers' Association.
“We were thrilled to have a chance to participate in this fundraising event,” said Emanual Siebenhaar, DISH site manager. “DISH is pleased and impressed with our employees’ generosity. We staff nearly 1,000 employees in the Harlingen area. They are a part of the community and absolutely jumped at the chance to give back this holiday season.”
To help raise money, site management sponsored an event that allowed employees to forgo normal business attire. For the price of a $1 donation, staff members could wear jeans for the day.
“It was a fun way to get our employees involved,” said Siebenhaar, “And it gave them a good incentive.”
DISH’s donation helped toy drive sponsors accumulate more than 4,000 gifts for local children this year. Employees also joined volunteers throughout the community to help wrap thousands of presents and then deliver the toys to low-income neighborhoods.
