Federal Aviation Administration Commissions Air Traffic Control Tower

April 20, 2022 - Charlotte Douglas International Airport’s added another chapter to its impressive history of growth as the Federal Aviation Administration commissioned the new Air Traffic Control Tower and Terminal Radar Approach Control during a virtual ceremony on April 5.

Standing 370 feet high – double the height of the tower that served CLT since 1979 – the facility is the second-tallest tower in the United States and rests on the south side of the airfield.
