Cigna Dental Providing Financial and Mental Health Support in Response to COVID-19
By

When the COVID-19 crisis first began, frontline healthcare providers were in urgent need of personal protective equipment (PPE), and dentists across the country stepped up, donating their own PPE supplies, including gloves and face masks.

As dental providers re-open their offices, they need to quickly increase their supply of PPE to safely provide dental services. To help during this period of time, Cigna Dental will reimburse contracted network dentists1 for PPE when providing dental services for Cigna customers.

“Dentists are facing significant challenges to access PPE including increased demand, limited supply, and higher costs,” said Cigna’s Chief Dental Officer Dr. Cary Sun.

“During this challenging time, we are committed to partnering with our dental network to reduce barriers when accessing the PPE necessary to treat customers safely.”

In addition, Cigna is helping dental providers overcome the stress and anxiety of returning to work by offering mental health resources and support for in-network dental office employees. Network dentists and office staff can speak to a qualified representative 24 hours a day, seven days a week through July 31 by calling 1.855.287.8400.

Cigna also recently announced a premium relief program for group plan dental clients to help ease financial concerns during this time. Cigna is providing a one-month premium credit to fully insured group dental clients2 who had active dental premiums in May.

1This applies to claims processed from June 15, 2020 to July 31, 2020 for US Commercial and Individual dental plans with the exception of Cigna Medicare dental plans and may be excluded by certain clients. ASO clients may request to opt out of this temporary payment by contacting their Cigna account team.

2The Cigna Dental Client Relief Program premium credit is not currently available in MA. Subject to regulatory review, clients in Washington State will receive a 50% rate reduction on both July and August billed insured-product premium.
