Cigna Introduces Medicare Advantage Plans in Columbus Area
Variety of options available, including $0 premium plans

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Nov. 2, 2022 – Cigna is expanding its Medicare Advantage (MA) presence to the Columbus area for the first time. Choices include plans with $0 premiums and attractive extra benefits. These plans will be available to Medicare-eligible customers during Medicare’s Annual Election Period (AEP), which begins Oct. 15 and continues through Dec. 7. They will be effective Jan. 1, 2023.

“We have been providing Medicare beneficiaries in other parts of Georgia with access to quality, affordable Medicare Advantage plans since 2014,” said Ashley Harris, president of Cigna's Medicare business in Georgia. “We are thrilled to expand into the Columbus area to give residents more choices to find the plan that fits their health needs, lifestyle and budget.”

Cigna MA plans are now available in Muscogee and Harris counties in Georgia and Russell County in Alabama.

Medicare Advantage plans are popular with people who qualify for Medicare because they include benefits that original Medicare does not.

Plans offered are Cigna True Choice Medicare (PPO) and Cigna True Choice Savings Medicare (PPO), featuring an $80 rebate on the customer’s Part B premium. Both plans are available for $0 premium.

Both plans also include the following:

  • A dental allowance to be used for preventive and comprehensive non-cosmetic services at any licensed dentist who accepts Medicare
  • Hearing and vision benefits
  • A fitness benefit, including a fitness tracker
  • Meal delivery following a hospital discharge
  • The Healthy Today flex card, which can be used at participating retailers to redeem benefits and incentives, such as wellness incentives and over-the-counter dollars where available

In Muscogee and Harris counties, Cigna also offers Cigna TotalCare (HMO D-SNP) for people who partially qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid and Cigna TotalCare Plus (HMO D-SNP) for people who fully qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. Both plans include a monthly allowance for the purchase of healthy foods, transportation to and from doctors and pharmacies, and an allowance for purchase of qualifying over-the-counter health-related products. Cigna TotalCare Plus includes a caregiver support program that provides resources and assistance to help ease the strain of managing care.

Cigna offers MA plans in a number of other Georgia counties, primarily in Metro Atlanta and north Georgia. Cigna also offers Medicare Supplement plans and standalone prescription drug plans across all of Georgia.

“We believe in giving our customers choices so they can select the plan that best fits their health status, lifestyle and budget,” Harris said.
