SEOUL, 2 December 2011 — BNY Mellon was amongst ten companies honoured by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and The Child Fund Korea on Thursday 24 November at the 'Now Start' awards ceremony in Seoul.

The 'Now Start' awards refer to volunteer activity that takes place annually during the autumn. Volunteers come together to make kimchi, a traditional Korean dish, for young children at a City and Child Fund Korea sponsored home. Each year Child Fund Korea nominates between five and ten organizations who have contributed consistently with donations, volunteer time and other support, to recognize at this year end event. The Seoul Metropolitan Government makes the final decision in relation to the recipient of the award for the year. Despite its small size of approximately 60 employees, BNY Mellon's Seoul branch has been recognised for its consistent contribution to the children of Seoul with monthly donations and quarterly volunteer activities.

BNY Mellon employees have raised in excess of 9,307,500 KRW (US$8,200) in 2011 to date through a combination of fundraising activities and company matching for the 160 man-hours volunteered for local community causes, in particular in support of the One Love children's home for disabled children, which is supported by BNY Mellon's chosen Korean community partner, The Child Fund Korea, and is located in Hansarang village on the outskirts of Seoul. In addition to this, employees have made significant personal contributions to the charity.

DR YS Kim, country executive for BNY Mellon in Korea, collected the award on behalf of BNY Mellon and commented: "I am very proud to accept this award on behalf of everyone at BNY Mellon. I would like to say a big thank you to our friends, colleagues and clients who kindly sponsored us and cheered us on throughout our fundraising activities, and to our employees who volunteered throughout the year."
