BNY Mellon Provides $500,000 for Food Banks Nationwide This Holiday Season

Dec 16, 2010

NEW YORK, December 16, 2010 — BNY Mellon, the global leader in asset management and securities servicing, will donate more than $500,000 this holiday season to a dozen food banks and distribution centers across the United States, providing more than 2.2 million meals to those in need.

"The unfortunate reality is too many families must choose between putting food on the table and meeting other basic needs," said R. Jeep Bryant, executive vice president and chief corporate affairs officer for BNY Mellon.  "Our support enables soup kitchens and food banks to provide critical support to their local communities, which is particularly rewarding during this time of year."

In the U.S., facilities that will receive contributions are located in Boston; Chicago; Hillside, NJ; Houston; Los Angeles; New York City; Newark, DE; Orlando; Pittsburgh; San Francisco; Syracuse, NY; and Utica, NY.

This charitable support is part of BNY Mellon's "Powering Potential" program, the company's philanthropic focus on helping people in need by concentrating on basic needs and workforce development. Throughout the year, BNY Mellon works with its community partners to provide food, clothing, energy and housing assistance to those who require immediate help. The company's workforce development investments are designed to improve access to employment through job training, education, mentoring and skills development.  For more information or to learn more about BNY Mellon's commitment to corporate social responsibility visit www.bnymellon.com/csr.
