The Bank of New York Mellon names new Head of Client Management for Asia

SINGAPORE, December 11, 2007 — The Bank of New York Mellon, a global leader in asset management and securities servicing, has appointed Jai Arya, executive vice president, as Head of Client Management for Asia, effective from 1 January 2008.

In his new position, Arya will continue to be based in Singapore and will report to Kenneth A. Lopian, senior executive vice president and Head of Developing Markets, who is based in New York. Arya's focus will be to ensure clients receive the full benefit of the company's leading capabilities across its broad array of products and services.

Arya has over 20 years client management experience and has been with the company since 1986 in a variety of roles in India, Taiwan, Korea and Singapore. Most recently he was head of client management for the Southern Asia region. This encompassed South East Asia, India and Australia.

In his new role, Arya's geographic responsibilities have been extended to cover Northern Asia as well. The Northern Asia region was previously led by Andrew Gordon, executive vice president, who was recently named Head of Broker-Dealer & Alternative Investment Services for Asia, also effective from 1 January 2008.
