Benaree P. Wiley
Bennie was elected to the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Board in 2004. As a director, she helps set the company’s strategy and overall direction. Within a highly competitive and highly regulated business environment, the board oversees and governs BCBSMA's operations, which includes the provision of health coverage to individuals and public and private employers. Bennie is the chair of the board’s governance committee and serves on the human resources committee.
Bennie is the principal of the Wiley Group. She is the former president and chief executive officer of The Partnership, an organization that strengthened Greater Boston’s capacity to attract, retain and develop talented professionals of color. Prior to joining The Partnership, she served as a management consultant with such corporations as Abt Associates, Contract Research Corporation and Urban Systems Research & Engineering, Inc.
Bennie is a past chair of The Children’s Museum and trustee associate of Boston College. She is a trustee of The Efficacy Institute, Partners Continuing Care and Black Philanthropy Fund. She serves as vice chair of Howard University and as a director of Dress for Success Boston. In addition to her non-profit board participation, she serves on the boards of Dreyfus Mutual Funds and CBIZ (NYSE). She is an honorary director of The Commonwealth Institute.
Bennie is a graduate of Howard University and the Harvard Business School.
