Statement of Andrew Dreyfus, President and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts on the 2012 Presidential Election

BOSTON — November 7, 2012 — Yesterday's election reaffirmed that our country will move forward on the Affordable Care Act's (ACA) promise to extend health insurance to millions of uninsured Americans.

We must also renew our collective commitment to making quality health care more affordable. Unless we slow the growth in the cost of health care, coverage will be out of reach for more and more families and employers.

The ACA and our recently passed new state law — Chapter 224 — create the foundation for making real progress on reducing the cost of health care. With the election behind us, we must turn our attention to working with our elected officials and other stakeholders to realize the full potential of these laws.
